Quick Quotes: Ansel Adams

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera.  You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, all the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”

Ansel Adams

If you have ever been to a photography workshop you know that if you put a dozen people in front of the same scene no two photographs will look the same.  And I believe this is one reason why!

I agree Howard everyone’s interpretation of a subject is never the same. Just look at all the iconic National Park images the same subject but how we photograph them in the different seasons, light, perspective and weather conditions always create a new and unique image.

Yes. And even what we find interesting to photograph can be different. I remember going to Cuyahoga National Park with a friend to photograph. We had Robert Hitchman’s Photograph America newsletter (which I enjoy getting) and which was very helpful. But, interestingly, we went to the spot in the park that he absolutely raved about (The Ledges) and my friend and I just looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders, with neither of us being drawn to that particluar area.
