Birches In Snow
With it having snowed last weekend, I could not ignore my very public New Year’s resolution to get out in the cold and make more photographs this winter than I have in the past. So out I went.

I was particularly drawn to the way the tree trees lined up and the way that the snow simplified the photograph and made it all about lines and shapes.

I think this image is all the justification, if you needed it, for getting out in the cold. I think it’s a superb study and really like the highly dynamic and energetic composition you’ve chosen.
Thanks very much. The kind words are appreciated!
Wonderful photograph. I like how you have the three trunks set so there is a little space between them. Winter is so fun to be out in and so fun to photograph. thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Tom. This positive reinforcement might be just what it takes to get me to brave the cold!
What’s a better subject for a black and white photo than birches in the snow. This is especially nice for me since some blight killed all the birches in the woods nearby our house.
Thanks Ken. Sorry to hear about your woods though.
This is really great Howard. Birch are some of my favorite trees, I just wish I had more of them around here.
Thanks Mark!
